.   TRAVELERS' REST
Two hundred years ago in the late afternoon of June 30th, the Lewis and Clark Expedition returned to the west side of the Bitterroot Mountains and to the campsite they called Travelers’ Rest. Reenactors in the national 2003-2006 Lewis & Clark bicentennial commemoration, the Discovery Expedition, stopped here as they retraced the entire 1803-1806 expedition. This is a sepia tone photo taken June 30th, 2006 on the Lolo Creek at Travelers' Rest with reenacters Bryant Boswell (Meriwether Lewis), and Bud Payton Clark (the great, great, great grandson of William Clark).
